CREGG Recruitment is delighted to have selected Cliona’s Foundation as beneficiary of our inter office team building initiatives in the run up to Christmas.

We looked at several Charity options but what struck our team was the significant non -medical costs of caring for a child with a life limiting illness and the very practical financial support that Cliona’s provide to these families. Families that are already struggling to deal with the diagnosis of having a sick child and now have the added worry of trying to make ends meet, just to be at their child’s bedside.

While we all have had some experience of visiting someone in hospital and the costs of that – car parking, cups of coffee etc our eyes were really opened to the costs of having a sick child over a prolonged period (estimated at approx. €10,000 per annum) and the impact financial support as provided by Cliona’s can make.

Cliona’s was set up by Brendan and Terry Ring, following the death of their daughter Cliona, from a brain tumour in 2006. Over the 8 years, that Cliona underwent numerous different hospital treatments, Brendan and Terry were struck by the number of families, facing enormous financial hardship from mounting non-medical expenses. They saw at first-hand the enormous toll these pressures took on these families desperately trying to cope with additional pressures.

Cliona’s Foundation while based in Limerick supports families all over the country and over the past 14 years has provided financial assistance to over 950 families in 29 Counties.

The fact that they continue to do this is the absence of any annual government support is just fantastic and another reason for CREGG Recruitment to do what we can to help them.

With offices in Shannon, Galway, Athlone, and Cork, our teams are really looking forward to raising awareness and funds – while also having some fun doing it.
